Last week I lazed around and basically didn’t work. (Maybe 14 hours worth) It was nice. Brittani visited me all week so we just hung out and did close to nothing. It was awesome. I already talked about the first night she was here about the Rock Bar and creepster. After that we usually slept in til noon and sat around in pj’s. Finally getting around and ready to go see Sam at school. We ended up “kidnapping” him and walking around the city taking photos.
We had fun. Except Brittani was real sad because they pulled up all the flowers in a garden she wanted to take photos of.
For Brittani’s birthday we lazied around in the morning and ate dim sum. Om nom nom. Because it IS Brittani’s favorite food. (Mine too.)
Then on to drink some Boba Tea. (For those who don’t know what it is..it’s several types of flavors like honey dew, peach, pumpkin spice, lavender, and the list goes on of deliciousness) with tapioca balls. And supposedly now they of noodles you can put in them. I honestly think it would feel odd chewing on a noodley tapioca. Either way I think I’ve tried about 20 or so flavors and each of been worth trying. Mmmm. I love boba.
We got a food coma from it all so we went back to my place and took naps while Brittani attempted to take a Anatomy and Physiology test. Bleck.
We spontaneously decided to go see a movie at the Esquire(a vintage theatre) called Bright Star. It’s about the poet Tom Keats and his love with the overly emotional fashion designer in the late 1800’s. Overall, pretty good. However, it was a bit too sappy for me but it was interesting to see Keat’s history.
Sam had been craving Fried Chicken for awhile so after the movie we headed to KFC. We got there about 45 minutes before closing and the manager was not happy about it. He had to fry up some more chicken for us because all they had left was a few pieces of there new grilled chicken. Personally I don’t go to KFC to eat grilled chicken. Oh silly silly healthy people. Make your own grilled chicken. Go to KFC for good ol’ fattening fried chicken. *Said with a southern accent*
We got real fat and fell asleep.
Thursday Brittani and I visited Sam at school after cooking some blueberry muffins for him. Sean got to Denver on Friday and Brittani was EXCITED! The whole time he wasn’t here she was anxious and couldn’t stop talking about him. It was cute. I remember doing the exact same thing not long ago. (And glad I can spend any time I want with Sam now.)
Time flew once he got here. We ate at this place called Cuba, Cuba. It was pretty dang good just a very long wait.
The next day we went to Snooze and waited once again for delicous foods.
Then off we went to hike. I think I have a new hobby. I had lots of fun. Yes, it was tiring but I am addicted!
After a 4 hour hike we were needless to say tired and hungry. So we headed to find Mellow Mushroom Pizzeria.
We immediately headed back to the apartment to get some needed sleep.
Unfortunately Sean and Brittani had to leave at 8 in the morning the next day. We were sad. I want them back here! Now! Please?
Last night Brittani, Sam and I met up with a friend of mine from school and some of her friends and a dance club/bar called Rockbar.
We had a blast dancing to some rad 80’s music. (Maybe too hard because afterwards we were all nauseous and had headaches) Completely worth it.
Brittani swears the DJ was Boy George.
Also they had Ferris Bueller playing while we were dancing so it was uber 80’s.
I couldn’t quit thinking about how my dad danced while I was dancing because of how ridiculous his moves were. I tried to mimic them, but honestly I don’t think anyone can. LOL Oh dad I miss you.
OH. This creepster kept on trying to dance with my friend Chloe and it REALLY made all of us uncomfortable. We all tried to ignore his stares(and not just a normal stare..more like groping you with his eyes) When we left the bar and talked a little outside before we went separate ways the creepster followed us outside and just walked right up to me and just started staring at everything but my face. Eck. It made me feel dirty. So we basically ran to the car. Unfortunately he followed the other girls, and thankfully a boy was them, and tried to go with Chloe. Two of her friends got in front of him and a fight almost broke out but they all go away safely. Never in my life have I come in contact with such a creepy person. *shivers*
This past sunday I worked on a Fashion History Project. It was actually a lot of fun!
I was blessed to work with two amazing fashion designers in my class, Chloe and Michael.
The project consisted of designing and promoting a line based on a time period we have discussed in class. We did the 18th century. Naturally. =P
Here it is…
I did all the tweaking on Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. My first time to do any actual work with these programs, and I can’t wait to use them again! It’s addicting!
I have been inspired to possibly turn this blog in to a fashion blog, because of the site www.modcloth.com *great site* Thanks to Erica I’m addicted to this site!
They upload pictures of their own fashion and creations. Or other’s designs that have inspire them.
Could be fun! If I can get this blog organized. Might take me a while since I’ll be taking 5 classes along with.
Speaking of classes, since it is in all ways fashion related, here is what I’m taking for Fall quarter:
Fundamentals of Advertising
Color Theory
Fundamentals of Fashion Industry
Fashion History II
Computer Applications
I can’t wait! Although my stress level might be going up a bit, but I WON’T let it get to me! I have to press on. No more procrastination!
Along with school and work. I really want to try to find somewhere that I can take a sewing class. Yes, I know I should have taken the free sewing classes by my own mom, but I got to just keep going forward! I’ve made a friend in class that knows of someone so we might take some sewing classes together! Should be fun.
So Fashion Week is next week and to celebrate I think I’m going to go see the Indie film September Issue. It’s going to be at a vintage type theater where they show only indie and classic films. *dreamy*
Also listen. It’s not the hit single from A Fine Frenzy’s new album, but it’s my favorite.
I have never written a blog, so I wanted to take a go at it.
Keep my friends and family updated now that I live in the Denver.
I’m not good at making words look/sound pretty so bare with me!
Most days I’m either at work or school, and if not there at home studying, writing a paper, or working on a project. Or at Sam’s(my amazing boyfriend) watching him work on his 3-D sculpture project. His talent really inspires me.
We probably go out to eat more then our pockets can handle budget wise, but there are too many delicious restaurants here!
Places we’ve dined at so far:
-Pasciugos:Mexican
-Grandy toody’s:Diner
-Sam’s No.3:Diner
-Pho 99:the name kind of gives it away
-Fogo de Chao: TOO expensive but worth the money.
-Breakfast King: Similar to a Waffle House but better
-Red Trolley: Gelato and Ice Cream Parlor
-Lollicup:Boba/bubble tea (I have to take you here Brittani!)
I think that’s all of them.
School.
Since I’m in my summer classes still(the school goes by quarters) I’m only in one class until Oct. 5th. Then I’ll have 5. uuugh. *stress*
Fashion History I: Study of fashion from 1300BC to 1800AD
I’ve really enjoyed this class; it’s been somewhat of a challenge because of the amount of information we have to squeeze in our brains in 5 weeks, but it’s all real interesting to me.
For example: did you know that in the Renaissance men wore what’s called a cod piece that covered their genitals. At first they used it as a place to keep there valuables, such as jewels. Yes jewels. Must be where we get that saying. =| Over time they started making them bigger because some men had to use a medication for the epidemic of syphilis. The medication discolored there clothing so they had to stuff there cod pieces to hide it. Too much information?
Or the women would pluck the hairs on their head so they would have higher foreheads. Ridiculous and painful. But then again women get bikini waxes now. Thats worse I think.
Women wore these in Italy in the 1500's
Lot of what I’ve learned in this class is interesting, but it’s amazing to see how our clothes, whether you care about fashion or not, has evolved.
Work.
Still love Starbucks. It can sometimes be on the negative side, but the people I work with make up for it. And my pay went up because Denver’s higher price of living. =D I work at a mall called Cherry Creek Mall. For ones that have heard of this place know how high end it is. We get snooty rich people, but the mall employee regulars keep you sane because they know how “silly” the customers can be. I work with a slew of people, including a guy that reminds me of a guy off the movie Grandma’s Boy.
This guy
Ya they’re awesome co-workers. Really.
Well. Not much else to write. I’m sure I can ramble some more later.
